Tax Tip: Open Enrollment to get health insurance through Healthcare.gov for 2019 is only from November 1, 2018 through December 15, 2018. If you want insurance for 2019 and don’t enroll during these dates then you need a qualifying life event to obtain insurance outside those dates.
FYI: for 2018 there was still a penalty if you, or anyone on your tax return, did not have health insurance. Some exemptions types may apply.
For 2019 there is no longer a penalty for not having health insurance.
Those receiving a premium tax credit for health insurance purchased through healthcare.gov required that credit to be reconciled on your tax return. You should receive a 1095-A form which you will need to prepare your taxes.
